Because we have different treatment options here at Timeless Beauty, it is required to consult with the licensed provider first so a treatment plan can be prepared. Sometimes one modality will work well, but occasionally we have to combine different treatments to get the best results. Our options to choose from are physician-grade chemical peels, microneedling, and laser.

Most lasers reach the deeper layers of skin without harming the skin’s surface. Because this technology treats the deeper layers, it is one of the best solutions for treating acne and acne scarring and its damaging effect on the skin.

Our laser delivers infrared energy at a wavelength ideal for acne treatment. The laser energy works on acne by gently heating up the sebaceous glands found in the upper layers of your skin. The heat produced in the glands causes a reduction of oil production and, thus, the number of active acne lesions. In addition to treating over-active sebaceous glands, this non-ablative procedure will also lead to collagen remodeling of the treated areas, the proliferation of active fibroblasts, and elastin, which are the building blocks to improve the texture and appearance of acne scarring.

Each individual session can last anywhere between fifteen minutes to an hour. You may experience some moderate discomfort during the procedure—most patients report a mild burning or tingling sensation or even a rubber band snap with warmth. Most people see clearing of their acne after two or three sessions with the laser treatments, but this can vary depending on the severity.

There is no downtime from laser treatment of acne. While slightly uncomfortable, it is not painful, and you will be physically capable of returning to your daily activities immediately afterward. You will, however, likely experience some redness (for an hour or two) and some swelling (usually for around two to six hours after the procedure, but for some sensitive individuals, it can last for up to four days) following the laser treatment. There can be an increase in acne after the first treatment due to a purging effect. This is normal and will subside as treatments continue.
